Step 1.5: Ideas- painting a mural in a nursery or child’s bedroom

Indoor murals painted in kid’s bedrooms or babies nurseries are probably the easiest murals of all to do!

Children’s cartoons and characters are bold and simple so you will have no trouble painting a room your children will love for years to come. And unlike wallpaper, a quick brush of paint later and you can redecorate their room again once they are older.

Here are a few ideas for you-

  • Disney characters- Winnie The Pooh, Tinkerbell, Disney Princesses, etc. (These are all line drawings, real easy and very popular!)
  • Pixar characters- Cars, Monster’s Inc.,
  • Beatrix Potter characters- Peter Rabbit, Mrs. Tiggywinkles, Tom Kitten. (These take a bit more skill but add real charm)
  • Dr. Seuss– The Who’s, The Cat In The Hat
  • and so on!

In addition to the sources mentioned in  Part 1 (Google Images, catalogs etc) children’s coloring books like these and this one can be a great source of images. There is a themed coloring book for practically every children’s favorite TV show character and they have great bold and eyecatching designs. The fact they are designed for children also means the bold lines make them even easier to transfer onto a wall.
If your children are slightly older why not suggest they color some of the pictures the way they’d like them painted on their wall?

And stay tuned: a mural art showcase post is coming soon!
